Breakfast of Fish

Based on John 21:9-14. Music based on "Clarinet Player"

“When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Here’s a fire ignited

Here’s a basket of bread

Bring me some of those fishes

Sit down for a big spread.

Eat your fill and

Tell me your all your tales

They’re incredible!

We were out on the water

Having nary a bite

Almost ready to give up

When you came into sight

We believed and

Rolled up our sleeves

And the net filled!

And now we’re once more

Eating with the Lord!

The fire is warming us

Our faith once more restored!

We just couldn’t be silent

When we saw it was you

None of us needed

To ask “Who are you?”

You are the Lord and

Life is our reward

No longer skeptical
